As Roxy navigates the dynamics between stern matriarch Mildred, her professional "Thought Organizer" June-Marie, and Mildred’s milquetoast centrist newspaper columnist husband Brooks, she discovers underlying conflict related to Mildred and Brooks’ children from previous marriages – Eli, Books’ aspiring preacher son and self-described "Virgin Warrior", and Hillary, Mildred’s pompous head-cheerleader daughter.
