Storyline

A malayalam film is emerging from the influence of southern narrative songs. Kaaliyan, the film is based on the courageous battle in the history of seventeenth century, Venad (Travancore). The story develops through Kaaliyan who is the close confidant of Iravikutty Pillai, chief of army of King Ravi varma of Venad. This film is also an effort to unearth Kaaliyan, Kunjirakottu kaali a genuine warrior, who was sidelined due to Iravikutty pillai's popularity. Kunjirakottu kaali who fought with vigor and valor for sustaining the pride of Venad attained the name Kaaliyan.
